Charity action of passing medical equipment and medicine for medical treatment of children with cancer diseases

International Charitable Fund “Ukraine 3000” and TNK-BP in Ukraine held a joint charitable event on transfer of medical equipment and medicine for the total of UAH 1 million to Pediatric Cancer Department of Cancer Institute of Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

“This is a unique event. We are glad, that conscience of the society has undergone serious qualitative changes: authorities and business structures turned with their face to the problems of the children ill with cancer”, — said Chief Pediatric Cancer Specialist in Ukraine Grigory Klymniuk. According to him, all in all there were over one thousand children in Ukraine which are ill with malignant tumours. Purchased equipment will allow to bring diagnostics and medical treatment of ill children to modern medical standards, as well as reduce treatment time and stay of children in the department.

Pediatric Cancer Department received from organizers of the event a PLR-analyzer which allows to conduct gene diagnostics of different forms of cancer as well as to prognose a lot of other illnesses, microbiological analyzer MiniAPI for identification of microorganisms, as well as a unique for Ukraine equipment for fixation of a child while conducting radiation therapy for the total of UAH 855 000.

Final stage of the charitable event became transfer to the Department of medicine for the total of UAH 145 000. These are antibacterial, hepatoprotective and antifungal preparations, blood-substituting preparations, amino acid and blood preparations as well as preparation for anaesthesia. Grigory Klymniuk informed, “these are those medicines, which are not foreseen by the State programs of Ministry of Health Protection”. According to him, the most unique among those transferred is a preparation for anaesthesia “Izofluran”, which allows to conduct operations with duration up to six hours and does not cause complications or difficult recovery from anaesthesia, which especially important for medical treatment of the children.

“I would like to express gratitude to all those who shares our understanding of joint responsibility for future of the Ukrainian society. Every minute doctors from the Pediatric Department of Cancer Institute have to fight for lives of the children. I want to thank all those who came to help those courageous people. I hope, that our joint event with TNK-BP in Ukraine will be an example for many others Ukrainians and international companies”, — said Head of Supervisory Board of International Charitable Fund “Ukraine 3000” Katherine Yushchenko. 

“Improvement of pediatric medicine is a principal priority of the work of our Fund. We are grateful to TNK-BP in Ukraine for the equipment and the medicine which will make easier the work for doctors and will improve the quality of medical treatment of the children. We always said and will keep saying that the results of such joint events are not just raised funds or equipment. The result is saved lives of the Ukrainian children”, — underlined Adviser of Head of Supervisory Board of Fund “Ukraine 3000” Andrey Miroshnichenko.

“This was the first joint project of TNK-BP in Ukraine with the Fund Ukraine 3000. This is the most important criteria for evaluation of charitable activities for TNK-BP Ukraine. I am sure, that our further cooperation, namely the event ‘Happiness of Childhood – free movements’, which will continue through another four years will as well be successful”, — underlined TNK-BP President.

“Happiness of Childhood — Free Movements” is a unique multilateral project, which will run for four years, with total annual budget over UAH 4 million, aimed at provision of modern medical, diagnostics and rehabilitation help to children with organic damages of the central nervous system. Other partners of this project are International Clinic of Medical Rehabilitation and the Ukrainian Pediatric Rehabilitation Medical Centre for children with organic damages of the central nervous system created by the Ministry of Health Protection of Ukraine. Beginning of the project is scheduled for April 2006.
