TNK-BP Reforms Governance System in Ukraine
In response to the dynamic development of its business in Ukraine, TNK-BP is adapting its governance system in that country. A new position which covers both the Chairmanship of the Management Board and the Chief Executive Officer's role has been introduced in LLC “TNK-BP Commerce” (Kiev). It will be held by Didier Casimiro, formerly Vice President Commercial and Strategy in OJSC TNK-BP Management (Moscow). Sergey Lizunov will remain in the position of President of TNK-BP Commerce and will be acting as Vice Chairman of the Management Board.
“The company has great business development plans and activities in Ukraine. In order to improve performance in this promising market it is vital to ensure the coherence between our operational actions plan and our interests protection. Didier Casimiro will not only be accountable to ensure this coherence but will also directly lead our business development strategy , the management of our major investments in retail and refining assets and the management of our overall daily operations. To achieve the performance targets Sergey Lizunov will provide support to the business and oversee the streams of security, legal service, HR policy, public relations and will continue representing the company’s interests with the state authorities”, stated Didier Baudrand, TNK-BP’s Executive Vice President Downstream.

Didier Casimiro, 43, was born in Belgium. Graduated with distinction from Gent University (Belgium) in IT and Philosophy. Holds an MBA from one of the most prestigious business schools in Europe, the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School (Belgium). Studied in Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management (USA, sales and marketing management programme), Thunderbird School of Global Management (USA, international oil and gas trading management programme), London Business School (UK, finance management course), INSEAD (France, skills enhancement program for top managers).
Has held managerial positions in BP subsidiaries in Belgium, Russia, US, Netherlands and Germany. Worked in BP’s head office in London. Has managed sales and marketing, operations of oil products, gas and power trading companies, and M&A transactions.
Casimiro has worked in TNK-BP since 2005 as Director of the Strategy Implementation and Marketing Department, Vice President for Business Marketing and Development, and Vice President for Commercial and Strategy. He led innovative projects to develop the retail and B2B businesses, and played a key role in positioning the strategy for the TNK and BP retail site offers. He also oversaw asset acquisitions, including the development of TNK-BP’s retail network in Ukraine.
Sergey Lizunov is 49 years old. He was born in Moscow and began his career in a Moscow-based research institute immediately after leaving school. As a top performer, he was assigned to study in the Moscow Institute of Radio Technology, Electronics and Automatics, after which he returned to the research institute as an engineer.
From 1990 to 1996 worked as commercial director of an investment company specializing in the development of retail trade networks. From 1996 to 2000 headed up the executive management team of an energy trading company.
Has worked in Ukraine since September 2000 as Executive Director of EFI “TNK Ukraine”, General Director of LLC “TH TNK Ukraine”, and 1st Vice President of LLC “TNK-BP Ukraine”. In September 2006 Lizunov was appointed President of the TNK-BP Group in Ukraine.
In 2005 Lizunov obtained an Executive MBA from the Kiev International Institute of Management and studied on the Thunderbird School of Global Management oil & gas trading management programme.
He is a member of the Board of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and of the Expert Analytical Group on the functioning of the crude and oil products markets and development of the refining industry under the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers. He is also co-head of the Fuel and Energy Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Fuel and Energy Committee of the European Business Association.
Lizunov has overseen a successful restructuring of the company’s Ukrainian business, resulting in improved efficiency of asset management. In 2006 the Lisichansk Refinery was declared best refinery in the TNK-BP international holding company, and in 2007 it became the first Ukrainian refinery to produce diesel fuel to Euro-4 standards. In 2008 TNK-BP’s retail network in Ukraine was expanded to 50 stations and the company opened the country’s first service station under the internationally recognized BP brand in Kiev.
Sergey Lizunov received an “Order for Merit”, 3rd Class, from the Ukrainian President for his special personal contribution to the social, economic and cultural development of the Ukrainian state.
TNK-BP is an international, vertically integrated holding company and one of the world’s top ten private oil companies in terms of oil production. It was formed in 2003 through a merger of BP’s Russian oil and gas assets and the petroleum assets of the Alpha/Access/Renova (AAR) consortium.

- UG Ltd “KERSCHER” - retail trading of oil products via a network of company-owned service stations, service station management;
- CJSC “LINIK” (Lisichansk Refinery) – refining of crude oil and production of oil products.
