Based on the results of 2008, the Lisichansk Oil Refinery (CJSC LINIK, the Lugansk oblast') suffered losses in the amount of 794,080 million hryvnya. Sergey Lizunov, President of TNK-ÂÐ Commerce, managing the refinery, has explained that the losses of the oil refinery are connected, first of all, with the dramatic drop in the oil prices at the end of the last year.
In 2009 the Russian-British TNK-BP Company intends to retain the high volume of investments and production at the largest Ukrainian Lisichansk Oil Refinery, which de facto belongs to the Company, despite the intensification of the economic crisis and the decline in the petroleum products' consumption in Ukraine.
On November the 27th, 2008 the Economic Court of the city of Kyiv passed the judgment, by which it acknowledged as illegitimate the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine’s imposition of the penalty in the amount of 500 thousand hryvnya on the CJSC LINIK for, allegedly, the violation of the competition legislation in November — December 2007.
The top-manager has expressed his hope that the Government, together with the market participants, would succeed in approving a package of solutions, which would lead to the normalization of work of the Ukrainian oil processing industry.
