Forced measures
TNK-BP Moscow office has made a decision to freeze projects in downstream because of the financial crisis. Representatives of the TNK-BP Kyiv office believe the economy will not affect the sustaining of standards of the industrial and ecological safety. Besides, the Lisichansk Oil Refinery will bring the commenced commercial projects, including the reconstruction of AVT-2 unit vacuum-generating system and the reconstruction of the catalytic cracking unit Ê-201 column, to their logical end. Last week the Lisichansk Oil Refinery finished the commissioning of the short-cycle adsorption unit, which would enable the enterprise to reduce natural gas consumption by 6,9 million cubic meters per year. «This is already the sixth technological unit, built by the Company at the refinery since 2000 (in general, the Company has invested more than $350 million into the oil refinery since 2000). We are really interested in the further development of the enterprise, including the development of its export potential. The possibility to advance along this way will depend on the economic efficiency of capital investments into oil processing. We hope the Government will support national producers and will take a number of measures to stimulate the oil refineries’ modernization», — Sergey Lizunov, TNK-BP Commerce President, has noted. According to Dmitry Zverev, LLC TNK-BP Commerce Public Communications Department Deputy Director, at present it is rather difficult to speak about new programs of the enterprise’s development. Their implementation will depend on how quickly the global resource markets will be stabilized, as well as on the efficiency that the Company’s activities in Ukraine are going to ensure. The Company assures: «As soon as we can see any possibilities for investments into new commercial projects, they will be immediately resumed».
