Such a prognosis has been announced by Felix Lunyov, LLC TNK-BP Commerce Vice-President on Sales and Logistics, at the third International conference «Ukrainian market of the oil products: tendency of development, technologies, and equipment» in Kyiv. Mr. Lunyov has also noted that, due to the cancellation of the import duties for oil products the oil price had stopped playing the role of the determining factor in the process of price formation for gasoline grades and the diesel fuel.

The Ministry of transport and communication of Ukraine, starting from January the 1st, 2008, initiates an increase in the costs for transportation of certain types of cargos, in particular, of the oil products, being transported via the railways. Having analyzed the order of the Ministry of transport and communication, TNK-BP Company has been very surprised.

Company changes the strategy of development in Ukraine. TNK-ÂP Ukraine Press Service has informed that they conduct negotiations with a number of the petrol stations’ owners, including Gepard Group of companies, on the acquisition of their retail networks. «Our objective is to strengthen our positions at the oil products’ retail market», — Irina Koval’chyuk, TNK-ÂP Ukraine Public Communications Department Deputy Manager.

On the whole, about 17,757 million tons of crude oil had been pumped along the oil pipeline during the period of its work in the reverse regime as on October the 31st, 2007. Ukraine has received 193,7 million US dollars as the payments for transit and harbor dues.

In September the State consumer standard committee will introduce new requirements on the gasoline grades and diesel fuel. Thus, Euro-3 standard will be effective in Ukraine from September 2008. According to Yuriy Boyko, the Minister of fuel and energetics, the Lisichanskiy oil refinery, being managed by TNK-ÂÐ Ukraine Company, is completely ready for transition into new quality standards.

Ukraine stays on the threshold of redistribution of the oil products’ retail market. The owners of the gas stations, which have been working under brands of the large-scale oil companies, are now at the crossroads. The former partners are no longer interested in cooperation, and the jobbers have no other choice than either to continue working independently, or to sell their businesses.
