The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine investigates relation of three oil refineries to joint monopoly
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine investigates relation of LLC LINOS (the Lisichansk Oil Refinery), Closed Joint Stock Company "Ukrtatnafta" (Krementchuk Oil Refinery) and Open Joint Stock Company "Scientific Production Complex "Galichina" (Drohobych Oil Refinery). The acting Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Yuriy Kravchenko informed that in the course of the public hearings on competitive situation at the markets of the gasoline and the diesel fuel the Committee established structural signs of joint monopoly represented by LINOS, "Ukrtatnafta" and "Scientific Production Complex "Galichina" at the national markets of motor gasoline and diesel fuel in 2004. According to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the overall share of the three oil refineries at the market of gasoline reached 60% last year, and at the market of diesel fuel – over 50%. The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine suggested the companies to submit evidence of existence real and significant competition between them. The Committee intends to adopt a final decision on existence or absence of the monopolistic position of LINOS, "Ukrtatnafta" and "Scientific Production Complex "Galichina" at the specified markets based on the results of 2004 in late September - early October.
