Cancer can be overcome. The doctors are sure about this, the parents and the children hope for this, the world experience confirms this. But if in the Western countries 70% of 100 patients recover from this illness, in Ukraine this index does not exceed 50%. The reasons for such unfavorable statistics are undue diagnostics, shortage of modern equipment and expensive medicine. All over the world the programs on fighting against cancer diseases are financed by patrons and charitable funds. In our country such experience is being just adopted. The Charitable Fund “Ukraine-3000” and TNK-BP Ukraine passed to the Pediatric Department of the Institute of Oncology medical equipment and medicine for the total of UAH 1 million. This equipment will not only help to identify a tumor in time, but as well to treat it in a correct way. This means that even more children will be able to recover from this evil illness. “The doctors are struggling for the lives of their little patients every minute in such Oncology Departments. We can and we must help these children, their parents and doctors. I am very grateful to all those who joined this struggle”, — says the Head of the Supervisory Board of the Fund “Ukraine 3000” Katherine Yushchenko. “We hope, and what is more we are sure that such actions will help many children recover. And if we shall have more healthy children, we shall have more happy people, happy families, and the society will be further developing as well as the country on the whole”, — notes Alexander Gorodetsky, President of TNK-BP Ukraine.
