The company has started its operation in Ukraine in May 2000, when FIC “TNK-Ukraine”, the subsidiary of Tyumen Oil Company, was registered in Ukraine. In July 2000, FIC “TNK-Ukraine” has acquired through open tender process the controlling stake in Lissichansk Refinery. This event has become the landmark at the local fuel market; over the short period of time the company has transformed from the former outsider into the leader of the oil refining national sector.
On 1st September 2003, BP (one of the biggest oil companies worldwide) and Alfa-Group together with Access/Renova have announced the conclusion of strategic partnership and the intention to merge their oil assets in the territory of Russia and Ukraine. The agreement has resulted in formation of TNK-BP.
Today TNK-BP is one of the top ten private oil companies worldwide in terms of crude oil production.
The main target of TNK-BP in Ukraine is production and supply of high-quality oil products at the national market, operating to the utmost efficiency and focusing on long-term prospects. In order to achieve this target, the company is consistently investing into refining and trading facilities.
The business of the group in Ukraine is represented by the following key enterprises:
- LLC “TNK-BP Commerce” – the managing center, wholesaler of oil products at the internal and external markets, implementing coordinated investment policy, ensuring that the assets are used to the utmost efficiency;
- CJSC “LINIK” (Lissichansk Refinery) – refinery of crude oil and production of the refined oil products;
- JV LLC “Kersher” – retail trader of oil products via the network of fuel stations, management of filling stations (AZK).
